Morocco is expected to see generally sunny summer weather this week, although conditions will be locally unsettled in mountainous areas and the eastern part of the country, according to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
Hot to very hot weather is expected in the Oriental region, the southeast and inland areas of the southern provinces, where temperatures could reach 40°C to 45°C. Scattered showers, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, are forecast over the Atlas Mountains and the Oriental region, with possible localized rainfall extending to the far south of the southern provinces and the Tangier region.

Meanwhile, relatively strong wind gusts are expected across several areas, including the southern provinces, the southeast, the Oriental region, the Atlas Mountains and the central coastal areas, with a risk of localized dust. Overall, temperatures are expected to gradually decline across most parts of the country through Saturday, while the southeast and southern provinces will remain relatively hot, with chances of thundery showers in the areas mentioned above.
Monday: Scattered showers over the mountains and eastern regions
Hot to very hot weather will persist on Monday in the Oriental region, the southeast and the southern provinces, where highs will range from 40°C to 45°C. Temperatures will range between 34°C and 40°C in the Oriental region, the Moulouya Valley, the Saïss, the Phosphate and Oulmès plateaus, the Tadla and Rhamna plains, and inland Souss.
Highs will not exceed 25°C to 29°C over the Atlas Mountains and near the coast, compared with 30°C to 34°C elsewhere.
Showers, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected over the Middle Atlas and the Oriental region. Skies will also be occasionally cloudy in the morning over the Tangier region and the eastern Mediterranean coast.
Low clouds, accompanied by fog or localized drizzle, are also expected along the coast, over the Atlantic plains and along the Mediterranean coast. Relatively strong winds will affect the southeastern Oriental region, central coastal areas, the southeast and the southern provinces, with a risk of localized dust.
Tuesday: More showers over the mountains
Unsettled conditions will continue on Tuesday, particularly over the Middle Atlas, where showers, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected. Hot to very hot weather will persist in the Oriental region, the southeast and the southern provinces.
Temperatures will drop in several regions, although a slight increase is expected in the far south, the Saïss, northern parts of the Oriental region and the Atlas Mountains. Relatively strong wind gusts are also forecast in the Oriental region, the southeast and the southern provinces, with a risk of localized dust.
Wednesday: Unsettled weather with a risk of thunderstorms
Showers with a risk of thunderstorms are forecast in the Oriental region on Wednesday. The Tangier region will also experience occasionally cloudy conditions, with showers expected overnight.
Low clouds will form in the morning and at night along the coast and over the Atlantic plains. Relatively strong wind gusts will affect the Oriental region, the Atlas Mountains and the southern provinces, with a risk of localized dust. Temperatures are expected to continue falling across most parts of the country.

From Thursday through the end of the week, relatively hot weather is expected to persist in the southeast and the southern provinces, while showers, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, will remain possible over the Atlas Mountains, the Oriental region and the far south of the southern provinces.
Winds will remain relatively strong and frequent across the southern provinces, central coastal areas, the Oriental region, the Atlas Mountains and the southeast, with a risk of localized dust. Daytime temperatures are expected to continue falling through Saturday before evolving depending on atmospheric conditions in the following days.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has urged people to remain cautious during thunderstorms, particularly in mountainous areas and near waterways. It recommends avoiding wadis and other watercourses during thunderstorms and following its official weather bulletins and alerts.
