CAS confirmed on Friday, July 24, that the hearing for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final has been scheduled for October 8.
The parties involved in the proceedings are the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The case originated from the CAF Appeals Committee’s ruling on March 17. This ruling followed an appeal by the FRMF concerning the application of Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations, pertaining to events that transpired during the final.

On January 18, the day of the match, Senegal’s players, acting on instructions from head coach Pape Thiaw, left the pitch at Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex for 16 minutes. This protest was in response to an injury-time penalty awarded to Morocco. Senegal had initially won the 2025 AFCON final with Pape Gueye’s goal in the 94th minute, prior to the CAF Appeals Committee’s ruling on March 17.
“The parties did not agree to implement an expedited procedure, meaning the case will follow the standard timetable set out in the CAS rules. The hearing date was established after consultation with the parties, who did not request that the hearing be held in public. It will therefore take place behind closed doors,” CAS stated.
Following the conclusion of the hearing, the arbitration panel will commence its deliberations.
“At this stage, CAS is not in a position to indicate when a decision will be issued. The ruling will not be delivered on the day of the hearing,” the Court of Arbitration for Sport added.
