Ayyoub Bouaddi’s transfer from Lille to Manchester City is nearing its completion. The Moroccan midfielder underwent his medical with the English club on Monday, August 24, following an agreement between the two clubs. His contract is now expected to be signed within hours.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who provided an update on his official X account, Bouaddi’s medical examinations were nearing completion on Monday. He also stated, “The signatures will take place shortly,” suggesting the transfer is close to official confirmation.
Bouaddi is set to sign a five-year contract with City, with an option for an additional year. The transfer fee is expected to reach €95 million, with a further €5 million in potential bonuses, which would set a new record for Lille’s highest sale.
This move would make Bouaddi the most expensive player to ever leave Ligue 1, surpassing the current record held by Neymar, who transferred from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia for €90 million.
Furthermore, Bouaddi would become the most expensive Moroccan player of all time, exceeding Achraf Hakimi’s €68 million move from Inter Milan to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.
He would also join the elite group of the most expensive teenagers in football history. Only Kylian Mbappé, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from AS Monaco for €180 million, would have a higher transfer fee.
