Abdessamad Ezzalzouli has returned to full training with Real Betis after recovering from a right-leg injury, giving the Moroccan winger a boost ahead of the club’s Liga opener against Real Sociedad.
Ezzalzouli trained with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad on Wednesday, August 19, wearing a support around his injured leg but appearing in good spirits as he continued his return to full fitness.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury before the 2026 World Cup and was forced to miss the tournament, in which Morocco reached the quarterfinals.
His return comes just three days before Betis begin their Liga campaign against Real Sociedad. Ezzalzouli could now be in contention to return to action on Friday, August 21, although his fitness will be assessed before the game.
His return to first-team training also appears to strengthen the prospect of him remaining at Betis for the coming season, despite interest from several clubs.
The Seville-based club reportedly set his release clause at €60 million following his strong campaign last season.
There has been interest from the Premier League, with Newcastle monitoring the Moroccan winger. More recently, Turkish club Galatasaray was also linked with a move for the player as it looked to strengthen its squad.
Ezzalzouli’s agent had already indicated that the player would remain at Betis, while several reports said the Morocco international had turned down offers from other clubs.
Ezzalzouli is therefore expected to return to the pitch soon in the green-and-white shirt, where he remains highly regarded, particularly by Pellegrini.
A return to the Champions League is also on the horizon for Betis, with Ezzalzouli hoping to make his mark as he begins another season in Seville.
