Speaking at the post-match press conference, Vilda said Morocco faced a well-organized opponent with a solid defensive structure that closed down spaces, as well as a strong midfield.

He also thanked the supporters at Moulay El Hassan Stadium for their backing, describing it as one of the key factors behind the team’s victory.

The Morocco coach explained that Morocco’s ball circulation lacked speed and fluidity during parts of the first half, with his players struggling to find solutions against Algeria’s defensive block. However, he noted the team’s performance improved after the break thanks to quicker passing and greater movement in midfield.

Vilda stressed that Morocco managed the match well, not only because of Sanaa Mssoudy’s winning goal in the 84th minute, but also due to the players’ physical condition and competitive spirit. He added that the team never stopped believing it could find the decisive goal until the final minutes.

He also highlighted the contribution of captain Ghizlane Chebbak, stating her introduction was one of the positives of the match, bringing greater composure and balance to the team.

Vilda expressed satisfaction with his players’ overall performance and their handling of what was a difficult and tightly contested encounter.

Looking ahead to Morocco’s final group-stage fixture, the coach said his side will face Senegal with the objective of securing another victory and finishing top of Group A. He added that the coaching staff will spend the coming days assessing each player’s physical condition before selecting the squad for the match.

Morocco will face Senegal on Monday at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat in the third and final Group A fixture of the tournament.
