Morocco head coach Jorge Vilda said on Friday in Rabat that the Atlas Lionesses are preparing with determination to claim the bronze medal in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations when they face Algeria in Saturday’s third-place playoff at the Olympic Stadium.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Vilda said the players had regained their balance and were now focused on the third-place match. He stressed their determination to show mental strength and finish the tournament with a victory.
The Spanish coach also described Morocco’s run in the Women’s AFCON as positive, saying the squad wants to put the finishing touch to its campaign with a favorable result.
Vilda noted that the team has played five matches in the tournament, demonstrating a high level of competitiveness and delivering several impressive performances. He added that the figures and statistics reflect the players’ efforts throughout the competition, especially on defense.
Vice-captain Hanane Ait El Haj said the players are preparing as a team as they look to return to their best form ahead of the match.
She said the players are determined to give their all against Algeria, deliver a strong performance and end their campaign on a positive note.
Morocco’s women’s national team will face Algeria at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday at 6 p.m. for the third-place match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
