New Bayern Munich forward Ismael Saibari spoke to the press for the first time on Friday, Aug. 14, as he was officially presented by the club.
“I had a good rest and I’m now fully back in training with the team,” the player said, after suffering an injury during the 2026 World Cup but now fully recovering. Saibari sustained a thigh muscle tear during the first half against Canada.
He then spoke about his position on the field and his versatility. “My preferred position is attacking midfielder, everyone knows that. But I can play in different positions; during a game, you always change anyway. I can also play on the wing and a little deeper.”
“Since Vincent Kompany arrived, Bayern have been playing with great intensity. I experienced that myself last season. I like this style of play and I’m looking forward to this new challenge,” the player added, making clear his determination to make a strong start. “Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Their style of play suits me too. They gave me the confidence to develop here,” he added.
Saibari, who speaks several languages, also discussed his linguistic skills: “I speak five languages — English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Dutch, and I hope to speak German soon as well. I like languages because they reflect different cultures.”
He also recalled a difficult experience from his childhood: “It’s true, I had problems with my feet when I was born. My parents made many sacrifices so that I could walk normally. I’m very grateful to them. I’m also a religious person and I believe this is the path God has laid out for me.”
Ismael Saibari officially joined Bayern Munich on Wednesday, July 1. The 25-year-old signed a contract running until June 30, 2031, and will wear No. 34 at the Bavarian club.
