Morocco’s U-17 women’s team take on Germany on Tuesday, October 20, at 18:00 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, in their second match at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which Morocco is hosting from October 17 to November 7.
The Lionesses of the Atlas made a strong start to the tournament, beating New Zealand 4-0 on Saturday, October 17. Germany also won their opening match, coming from behind to defeat Argentina 2-1.
Morocco’s goals were scored by Sonia Abaijou in the 57th minute, followed by an own goal from Eden Chaytor in the 70th minute. Imane Dhissi added a third in the 76th minute before Hiba Youssoufi converted a penalty in the 82nd minute.
The Lionesses head into this key encounter as Group A leaders. A positive result would keep them in a strong position to reach the knockout stage. At the previous edition, hosted in Morocco last year, they reached the round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams before losing 6-1 to eventual champions North Korea.
Tuesday’s match will be refereed by Australia’s Lara Lee, assisted by Thailand’s Nuannid Donjangreed and Britain’s Nicoleta Ramona Bria. China’s Dong Fangyu will serve as the fourth official.
The Morocco-Germany match will be broadcast on Arryadia TNT, as well as on beIN Sports and the FIFA+ platform.
