The Morocco women’s national team have qualified directly for the third round of the African qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games after Congo withdrew from the competition, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced.

FIFA notified the FRMF of Morocco’s qualification following the decision by the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) to withdraw its women’s national team from the tournament.

The Atlas Lionesses will enter the third round directly, where they will face the winner of the tie between Comoros and Nigeria.

The third round is scheduled to take place from February 23 to March 6, 2027, and will feature 16 national teams. The eight winners of the two-legged ties will advance to the fourth round.

The African qualifiers consist of five knockout rounds played over two legs. At the end of the fifth and final round, scheduled from November 23 to December 4, 2027, the two remaining qualified teams will secure their places at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
