In an official statement released on Monday, July 13, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced that Ouahbi will address the media to discuss Morocco’s performance at the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup.
“Morocco national team head coach Mohamed Ouahbi will hold a press conference on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mohammed VI Football Complex to discuss the Atlas Lions’ participation in the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup 2026,” the federation said in its statement.

For more than a month, Ouahbi’s side captivated an entire nation. Morocco made its intentions clear from the group stage, holding Brazil to a 1-1 draw before recording convincing victories over Scotland (1-0) and Haiti (4-2) to finish second in the group with seven points.
The knockout rounds further highlighted the team’s progress. Morocco first knocked out the Netherlands after a dramatic penalty shootout before defeating Canada 3-0 in the round of 16, thanks in part to a brace from Azzedine Ounahi. Their run eventually came to an end in the quarterfinals, where France proved too strong. Beaten 2-0 in Boston, the Atlas Lions exited the tournament with their heads held high after a campaign widely praised by observers.
Beyond the quarterfinal defeat, the tournament confirmed Morocco’s growing status on the international stage. After their historic semifinal appearance in 2022, the Atlas Lions once again reached the last eight, becoming the only African and Arab nation to advance to the quarterfinals of the first 48-team World Cup.
That consistency reflects the progress of Moroccan football and is already fueling fresh ambitions ahead of future competitions.
