After several months sidelined by injury, Morocco international Nayef Aguerd rejoined Olympique de Marseille’s first-team training on Wednesday, July 29, marking an important step towards his return to competitive action at the start of the 2026–27 season.
Two days prior, Marseille head coach Bruno Génésio expressed optimism about the defender’s recovery.
“I’m hopeful that he’ll be able to resume training with the group during our training camp in the Netherlands at the beginning of August. It’s good news for our central defense,” Génésio told reporters.
The former Fath Union Sport player underwent surgery on March 12 for a long-standing groin injury, several weeks after representing Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted in Morocco.
