Paris FC have appointed former Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior as their new head coach on a two-year contract through 2028, the Ligue 1 club announced on Tuesday.
The 41-year-old replaces Antoine Kombouaré, whose departure was confirmed after he guided the club to an 11th-place finish following his appointment in February. Paris FC thanked the former Paris Saint-Germain coach for his work before confirming Rosenior’s arrival.
The appointment marks a swift return to French football for Rosenior, who left Strasbourg in January to take charge of Chelsea. His spell at Stamford Bridge, however, proved short-lived, as he was dismissed in April after just 106 days in charge, having won 11 of his 23 matches.
Before moving to Chelsea, Rosenior had impressed at Strasbourg, leading the club to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 and securing European qualification for the first time in eight years.
Paris FC sporting director Marco Neppe said Rosenior was the ideal candidate to lead the club into its new era.
"Liam Rosenior brings together all the qualities we were looking for," Neppe said. “He is a modern, demanding coach and recognised for his ability to help both the players and the team progress."
"Beyond his tactical skills, we were particularly attracted by his management qualities and his ability to unite a group around a clear vision," he added.
Rosenior expressed his excitement after being unveiled as Paris FC’s new coach.
" I’m so happy to be the new coach of Paris FC. I can’t wait to get started with the players, " he said.
“I want my team to enjoy playing football, to show and express themselves and play with intensity and enthusiasm. That’s what I’m about and hopefully I can bring that to this club. "
Paris FC earned promotion to Ligue 1 last season, returning to the French top league for the first time since 1979. The club initially parted ways with promotion-winning coach Stéphane Gilli before appointing Kombouaré, but have now turned to Rosenior as they prepare for yet another challenging season, hoping to achieve good results and cement their place in Ligue 1.
