Fuel prices in Casablanca have climbed further after a new increase took effect at the start of October, pushing diesel above MAD 16 a liter and bringing gasoline prices above MAD 15.50.

Government says imports and domestic supplies remain normal despite Middle East tensions; transport aid retained as higher diesel costs work through the economy.

A day after Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri was appointed head of government, Moroccan motorists are bracing for another rise in fuel prices. Le360 has learned that several fuel distributors have requested an increase of 80 centimes per liter for diesel and 39 centimes for petrol, effective from around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30.

Latest increase adds 34 centimes a liter, taking the rise since mid-July to MAD2.74 as Casablanca stations quote up to MAD15.33.

Diesel prices are expected to rise by 34 centimes per litre on Wednesday, while unleaded gasoline is set to increase by 27 centimes.

Prices rose another six cents on September 1, taking the cumulative increase to around MAD 2.40 a liter in six weeks, while gasoline remained unchanged at about MAD 14.93.

Moroccan fuel prices moved in opposite directions on Sunday evening, with diesel climbing by MAD 0.65 per liter while gasoline fell by MAD 0.30, just two weeks after both fuels rose by MAD 1.

The price of crude oil continues to seesaw amid tensions in the Middle East and statements by U.S. President Donald Trump. As fuel prices are partly tied to the cost of crude, pump prices remain generally high. In Africa, taxes, which provide significant revenue for public finances, also weigh heavily on fuel prices.
