Diesel is now expected to sell at around MAD 14.90 per liter, while gasoline stands at approximately MAD 14.93, although prices may vary depending on the distributor and region.
The latest adjustment follows a broad increase on Aug. 3, when fuel distributors raised both diesel and gasoline prices by MAD 1 per liter. That increase came after days of speculation in parts of the Moroccan media that prices could jump by as much as MAD 2 to MAD 3.

The upward pressure, however, predates August. In mid-July, diesel prices had already risen by MAD 0.69 per liter, while gasoline increased by MAD 0.39.
The latest changes bring renewed attention to a broader debate over how fuel prices are set in Morocco.
The Competition Council has advocated an overhaul of the current pricing mechanism, under which distributors generally revise prices every two weeks, often making similar adjustments at roughly the same time.

The Council wants individual operators to pursue more independent pricing policies, a shift intended to encourage greater competition and allow changes in market conditions to be reflected more quickly and fairly in prices paid by consumers.
