The Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy (CCMI) and Italian cooperative banking group Iccrea Banca signed an agreement in Rome to strengthen bilateral trade and support companies from both countries in expanding internationally.
The agreement was signed by CCMI President Marouan El Mansoub and Massimo Meliconi, head of Transaction Banking and Export Credit at Iccrea Banca. It aims to support Italian companies looking to expand their presence in the Moroccan market and facilitate trade with businesses in Morocco.
It will also support members of the Moroccan community in Italy in developing new business projects between Morocco and Italy.
“This agreement will support Italian companies in their international expansion and in their trade with Moroccan companies in the Kingdom,” El Mansoub said.
He added that the agreement will provide important support to Moroccans living in Italy, both in launching new business projects in Morocco and in developing their existing activities.
For the CCMI president, the initiative marks another step in strengthening bilateral economic ties and should create new opportunities for cooperation, investment and business development between companies from the two countries.
Meliconi said the agreement would allow the Italian banking group to expand the range of tools available to its members to support companies seeking to grow internationally.
The aim is to make it easier for businesses to access expertise, networks and business opportunities in a growing market such as Morocco, he said. The Kingdom is now one of the most dynamic and promising markets in Africa for Italian companies, he added.
Morocco also offers major opportunities in sectors including energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, automotive and tourism, thanks to its economic stability, strategic position between Europe and Africa and an environment that is favorable to foreign investment, he concluded.
