Back in Fnideq after spending several nights in Ceuta, many returning migrants describe what they say was a traumatic ordeal marked by fear, hunger and violence—an experience that has convinced many never to attempt the crossing again.

The city of Fnideq returned to its usual rhythm on Saturday morning after several days of tension marked by collective attempts to cross into the occupied Ceuta. Following the deployment of a large security operation, the situation has eased considerably, allowing life to gradually return to normal, particularly at the Bab Sebta crossing.

Calm gradually returned to the Bab Sebta border crossing on Friday afternoon after a night of heightened tensions and repeated attempts to enter the occupied city of Ceuta. Moroccan authorities deployed a major security operation as thousands of migrants began returning to Fnideq.

Hundreds of residents and tourists gathered on M’diq’s waterfront on Wednesday to watch military parades and musical performances organized by Morocco’s Royal Guard as part of Throne Day celebrations.

A major forest fire that broke out Monday in the Khendak Snane forest, in the Dar Chaoui district of Tangier-Assilah prefecture, prompted a large-scale air and ground response. At the time of publication, authorities said the blaze had been brought more than 90% under control thanks to a rapid and well-coordinated intervention.
