“I’ve been fortunate enough to attend the Marrakech Festival since its very beginnings. I’ve had wonderful experiences there and made some very special encounters. Supporting filmmakers at the start of their careers is important. It is part of this festival’s DNA, and I’m delighted to chair the jury this year,” Cotillard said following the announcement of her appointment.

Over the course of her career, Cotillard has built an international reputation through a wide-ranging body of work spanning genres, filmmaking styles and national cinemas. She has worked with filmmakers from across the industry, earning recognition for her willingness to take on diverse and demanding roles.

She went on to appear in Pretty Things (Les Jolies Choses), Love Me If You Dare (Jeux d’enfants) and A Very Long Engagement (Un long dimanche de fiançailles), for which she won the César Award for best supporting actress.

Her portrayal of French singer Édith Piaf in La Vie en Rose (La Môme) brought her worldwide acclaim. In 2008, she became the second French actress to win the Academy Award for best actress and the first to win an acting Oscar for a performance in French. The role also earned her the César, Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for best actress.

Cotillard later delivered acclaimed performances in Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone and James Gray’s The Immigrant. Her role in Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Two Days, One Night earned her another Academy Award nomination for best actress in 2015.

Her filmography also includes collaborations with some of Hollywood’s best-known directors.
