According to a statement obtained by Le360, the facility will now operate under its new brand and corporate identity, Akdital Mecca.
“This deal marks a major milestone in the group’s regional expansion in Saudi Arabia and reflects its firm commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of the country’s healthcare system, in line with the ambitious economic and development goals of Saudi Vision 2030,” the statement said.
Commenting on the acquisition, Dr. Rochdi Taleb, CEO of Akdital, said the deal represents the successful transition from strategic planning to implementation.

“Completing this acquisition marks a successful transition from strategic planning to implementation on the ground. Akdital Mecca is expected to play a central role in our expansion strategy in the Kingdom,” he said.
“Our vision is to turn the facility into a leading medical center that combines clinical excellence, the highest patient safety standards and high-quality services, while fully integrating with the local healthcare system. The scale of the planned investment clearly reflects our long-term vision and our determination to play a key role in strengthening and developing healthcare services in Saudi Arabia,” he added.
Comprehensive investment program launched to upgrade and expand hospital
Following the acquisition, Akdital has launched a major investment program to overhaul the hospital’s infrastructure and increase its bed capacity.
According to the statement, the hospital’s total capacity is expected to rise to 126 beds once the development work is completed, up from 120 currently. The investment program also includes a comprehensive upgrade of its medical and technical infrastructure, a redesign of patient-care pathways to improve operational efficiency, and expanded capabilities in emergency care, intensive care, cardiology, surgery, and maternal and child health.

The planned facilities and capacity include 19 specialized emergency care units, including two clinical resuscitation units; 18 multidisciplinary resuscitation beds; eight cardiac intensive care beds; seven neonatal resuscitation beds, including one isolation bed; 13 nursery beds; seven advanced main operating rooms; one dedicated obstetrics operating room; one endoscopy room; and four delivery rooms.
The hospital will also have an integrated medical imaging platform and a specialized medical laboratory.
As a multispecialty hospital, Akdital Mecca will provide advanced healthcare services in areas including cardiology, interventional cardiology, general surgery, intensive care and resuscitation, obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, emergency medicine and medical imaging.
Dr. Shadi El Masri, Akdital’s medical director in Saudi Arabia, said the healthcare market in Mecca has unique needs, with the city having to serve both its growing resident population and the increasing number of pilgrims visiting throughout the year.
“Saudi Arabia welcomed more than 18 million Umrah pilgrims and international Hajj pilgrims in 2025, and aims to increase its capacity to 30 million visitors a year by 2030,” he said.
“In this context, Akdital Mecca will bring real added value to the holy city by offering a broad range of medical specialties, increased capacity in emergency and critical care, as well as rigorous medical governance designed to ensure operational flexibility during peak periods and periods of high patient flows,” he added.
Through the strategic acquisition, Akdital plans to draw on its healthcare expertise to serve Mecca residents and pilgrims while contributing to higher quality standards, modernizing medical infrastructure, transferring knowledge and developing local skills.

Akdital develops and operates a broad network of multispecialty and specialized healthcare facilities. The group currently has a capacity of 4,864 beds across 45 healthcare facilities in 26 cities throughout Morocco.
Its workforce currently stands at 10,256 employees across its facilities, including 362 people recruited since the beginning of 2026.
