Moroccan diaspora remittances reach MAD 61.5 billion in first half of 2026.

Remittances from Moroccans living abroad reached MAD 61.48 billion at the end of June 2026, up from MAD 55.954 billion during the same period a year earlier, according to Morocco’s Foreign Exchange Office.

In its latest monthly report on foreign trade indicators, the Foreign Exchange Office said remittances from Moroccans living abroad increased by 9.9% year-on-year.

The report also showed a positive travel balance of MAD 48.8 billion, an increase of 20.6%.

The surplus was driven by a 15.9% increase in travel receipts, which reached MAD 64.89 billion, outpacing the 3.6% rise in travel expenditures, which totaled MAD 16.09 billion.

Net foreign direct investment inflows also increased, rising 31.5% to MAD 26.16 billion.

Investment receipts grew by 14.4%, while expenditures declined by 20.5%.

Meanwhile, net Moroccan direct investment abroad remained positive at MAD 5.711 billion.
