Morocco’s Blueberry Exports to Finland Surge 40-Fold in One Year

Morocco became Finland’s second-largest blueberry supplier during the 2025-2026 marketing year.

Morocco is making a major breakthrough in Finland’s blueberry market. Between July 2025 and June 2026, Morocco exported 657 tonnes of blueberries to Finland, worth more than €6 million. That is 7.5 times the combined volume exported over the previous five years. The performance propelled Morocco to second place among Finland’s suppliers, with a 16.2% market share, driven by rapidly growing local demand.

Morocco has significantly strengthened its presence in Finland’s blueberry market, posting unprecedented growth during the 2025-2026 marketing year. According to Finnish customs statistics from the Global Trade Tracker, cited by specialized website EastFruit, Finland imported 657 tonnes of fresh Moroccan blueberries worth more than €6 million between July 2025 and June 2026.

This volume is 7.5 times Morocco’s combined shipments over the previous five years and 12.5 times the record set during the 2017-2018 campaign. The sharp increase reflects a notable acceleration in Morocco’s presence in the Nordic market, which had previously been marginal for the Kingdom’s blueberry industry.

Overall, blueberries are becoming increasingly popular in Finland, with imports rising for the third consecutive year and more than doubling over that period. During the 2025-2026 marketing year, Finland’s total blueberry imports exceeded 4,000 tonnes for the first time, up 62% from the previous year.

The increase also benefited Spain, the Netherlands and Chile, which all increased their shipments to the Finnish market. Poland and South Africa, however, lost market share over the same period, giving way to these more dynamic suppliers.

Finnish customs statistics show that Morocco’s export window was closely aligned with Finnish demand. Imports began rising in January, with fruit arriving from Peru, Chile and the Netherlands. Moroccan and Spanish blueberries entered the market in February. By March, Morocco’s share had exceeded 32%, with shipments peaking in May at 180 tonnes.

This growth was driven by product quality, competitive prices and efficient logistics, allowing Morocco to increase its export volumes fortyfold compared with the previous year, the largest increase recorded among all suppliers.

Morocco Becomes Finland’s Second-Largest Supplier

This performance allowed Morocco to rank second among Finland’s blueberry suppliers in 2025-2026, with a 16.2% market share. It also forms part of the Kingdom’s broader expansion into Northern European markets.

During the same marketing year, Morocco doubled its direct tomato exports to Finland and became Norway’s leading supplier of raspberries and blackberries. Together, these developments point to the Kingdom’s growing role in the fruit trade across Northern Europe.
