Domestic demand grew by 5% in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 7.5% during the same period a year earlier, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
Domestic demand contributed 5.6 percentage points to national economic growth, compared with 10.3 percentage points during the same period a year earlier, the HCP said in its note on the national economic situation in Q2 2026.
Household final consumption expenditure increased by 4.1%, compared with 1.8% in the same quarter a year earlier, contributing 2.3 percentage points to growth, against 1.1 percentage points previously.
Final consumption expenditure by public administrations, meanwhile, slowed from 4.8% in Q2 2025 to 4.6%, contributing 0.8 percentage points to growth, compared with 0.9 percentage points a year earlier.
Gross investment, including gross fixed capital formation, changes in inventories and net acquisitions of valuables, also slowed, with its growth rate falling from 20.3% during the same period a year earlier to 6.8%. It contributed 2.4 percentage points to growth, compared with 8.3 percentage points previously.
