The agreement was signed by Mohammed Fikrat, chairman of the management board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc, and Leila Serhan, Visa’s senior vice president and group country manager for North Africa, the Levant, and Pakistan.
According to a joint statement, the partnership seeks to develop a new payments architecture designed to expand access to secure digital payment services while supporting Morocco’s ongoing digital transformation.
The initiative will focus on developing digital banking and payment solutions, including cashless payment services and products for businesses. It also includes programs designed to strengthen customers’ digital skills and encourage wider adoption of digital financial services.
Mohammed Fikrat said the agreement aligns with Crédit Agricole du Maroc’s strategy to modernize its services and improve operational performance.
“This partnership with a global leader in payment technologies such as Visa is fully aligned with our strategy of modernization and operational excellence for the benefit of our customers,” he was quoted by the statement as saying.
Fikrat added that the partnership would allow the bank to offer customers a secure transaction infrastructure while reinforcing its financial and digital inclusion objectives.
For her part, Leila Serhan said the agreement combines Visa’s global payments expertise with Crédit Agricole du Maroc’s local presence to support the country’s digital transformation.
“This alliance aims to turn Morocco’s digital momentum into a secure and tangible reality across the country,” she said, adding that the partnership is intended to contribute to economic growth by expanding access to digital payment solutions.
The two partners said the agreement marks a new stage in their collaboration and reflects their shared ambition to broaden access to digital financial services for individuals and businesses across Morocco.
