The caftan that Chirihan Chergui will wear tonight on the Miss World 2026 stage for the Dances of the World event is made in a deep royal blue. It features gold and turquoise embroidery inspired by the geometric patterns of zellige, with diamond and triangle motifs across the shoulders, bodice and wide flared sleeves. Strips of sfifa, the traditional braided trim used in Moroccan caftans, run along the collar and cuffs, combining gold and silver threads.
A green mdemma, fastened with a buckle set with red stones, defines the waist and accentuates the silhouette. The slit lower section reveals an ivory dress worn underneath, while small, colorful confetti-like embroideries decorate the left side of the caftan, contrasting with the geometric structure of the rest of the piece.
Chirihan Chergui completes the outfit with a gold crown featuring star-shaped points and green stones, along with a matching necklace and earrings reminiscent of the jewelry traditionally worn by Moroccan brides during wedding ceremonies.
A Train Designed for the Stage
The ensemble is completed by a long train: a panel of ivory chiffon held at arm’s length and lined with green fabric embroidered with floral motifs that spreads widely across the floor. Designed to accompany the contestant’s movements on stage, the train adds volume and movement to an otherwise structured, almost architectural silhouette inspired by the intricate patterns of zellige.
The creation was designed by Hind Iraqui and combines zellige motifs with delicate embroidery intended to evoke, in Chergui’s words, “part of Morocco’s beauty, identity and rich heritage.”
This is not the first time Chirihan Chergui has showcased Morocco’s clothing heritage since arriving in Vietnam. Even before the official start of the competition, she wore the golden-yellow “Al Kharib” caftan during a presentation of the amariya at Hanoi’s Imperial Citadel. While the first outfit accompanied a more intimate wedding ritual, tonight’s creation was designed for the stage and the attention of the judges, featuring a more sculpted silhouette and more elaborate adornments.
Chirihan Chergui, who hails from Berkane, is representing Morocco at the 73rd edition of Miss World, which will be held in Vietnam from August 9 to September 5, 2026.
Dances of the World is one of the highlights of the Miss World 2026 calendar. The event brings together music, dance and national costumes to celebrate the cultural diversity of participating countries and delegations. It forms part of the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the Miss World organization, with the grand finale set to take place on September 5.
