New footage reportedly showing gameplay from Grand Theft Auto VI has surfaced online, alongside an image said to show the game’s full Leonida map, just days before Rockstar Games is expected to offer an official extended look at the highly anticipated title.
The material began circulating on Aug. 18, with two short gameplay clips reportedly showing protagonist Jason Duval. Rockstar has not publicly confirmed the authenticity of the footage, but several gaming outlets report that the company has issued DMCA takedown notices against posts sharing the material.
One of the clips appears to show Jason outside his home, where he picks up a basketball and plays with it. The footage also gives a glimpse of his house and surrounding property. Another clip reportedly shows Jason driving through Leonida before getting involved in a confrontation that draws police attention.
The footage appears to come from an unfinished development build rather than a complete promotional version of the game. Reports have pointed to unfinished animations and interface elements, meaning some of what appears in the clips could change before the game’s release.
The leak also includes an image that purportedly shows the full map of Leonida, the fictional Florida-inspired state in which GTA VI is set.
The map appears to include Vice City as well as several surrounding counties, smaller towns, islands and large areas of wilderness. One analysis identified what appear to be five counties, although the exact names and boundaries shown in the leaked image have not been confirmed by Rockstar.
If genuine, the map would provide the clearest look yet at the scale of the game’s world. Rockstar has previously confirmed several areas of Leonida, including Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park, but has not officially released a complete map.

Rockstar is scheduled to give GTA VI another major official presentation on Aug. 27, with the upcoming Extended Look expected to provide a closer look at gameplay and the game’s world.
The leaked material therefore arrives less than two weeks before players are due to see more of the game through official channels.
For now, however, the footage and map remain unverified. While the reported DMCA takedowns have added weight to claims that at least some of the material is genuine, neither Rockstar Games nor publisher Take-Two Interactive has publicly authenticated the new leak.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on Nov. 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
