A flight that left Paris-Orly Airport at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday for Casablanca was diverted to Biarritz Airport in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region, according to Le Parisien.

Bayonne prosecutors said the man, born in 1987, was arrested after leaving the aircraft. He was placed in police custody by border police and was due to undergo a psychiatric assessment.

According to a police source, the incident began when the passenger verbally assaulted three flight attendants after becoming dissatisfied with something on board. The man was known to police, but not to territorial intelligence services. The person accompanying him also left the aircraft and was taken into care by law enforcement officers.

The airline described the passenger as disruptive. The flight had to be postponed until the following morning. Transavia France offered accommodation to affected passengers, who resumed their journey on Friday morning. The aircraft landed in Casablanca at 9:35 a.m.
