Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri on Friday pledged that her newly appointed cabinet would be marked by seriousness, responsibility and hard work, expressing confidence that its four coalition partners could deliver on their commitments despite their political differences.

Speaking after King Mohammed VI presided over the appointment of the new government at the Royal Palace in Rabat, El Mansouri said the coalition had agreed on a program intended to meet public expectations and address the challenges set out in the King’s Throne Speech and his address opening the parliamentary session.

She acknowledged that the four parties came from different political positions but said their principles and programs had enough in common to allow them to work together.

The agreement, she said, had enabled the coalition to draw up an “ambitious government program” that would respond to the expectations of citizens.

El Mansouri described the new cabinet as a team combining experience with the participation of women and younger members.

“We had the honor today of being appointed by His Majesty the King to this new government,” she said.

The Head of Government said she was “very optimistic” about the administration’s prospects, maintaining that the measures proposed in its program offered hope and answers to public concerns.

The government must now present its program to Parliament and secure the confidence of the House of Representatives before proceeding with its work.

El Mansouri said her ministers would begin working closely on the implementation of public policies after the government declaration before Parliament.

Those policies, she said, were intended to bring tangible improvements to people’s lives.

“This government will be distinguished, God willing, by its seriousness, commitment, sense of responsibility and hard work,” she said.
