Turnout in Morocco’s legislative elections had reached 28.05pc by 5pm on Wednesday as voters made their way to polling stations for the final stretch of an 11-hour vote.
The figure marked a steady pickup from midday, when 11.34pc of registered voters had cast their ballots. At 10am, two hours after polling began, turnout had stood at 4.23pc.
Polls opened at 8am and will shut at 7pm sharp across the country, the Interior Ministry said.
Some 15.8 million registered voters are being asked to choose the 395 members of the House of Representatives, with 7,288 candidates in the running on 1,850 local and regional lists.
The Interior Ministry said voting continued under normal conditions nationwide.
