PAM came out swinging on Wednesday after videos alleging irregularities in Tangier-Medina began doing the rounds online, dismissing the claims as a “fabricated scenario” and accusing political rivals of trying to muddy the waters on polling day.
The videos purported to show disturbances and irregularities involving PAM supporters around some polling stations in the constituency. The party would have none of it.

In a strongly worded statement, its collective leadership rejected the allegations and claimed the controversy had been deliberately whipped up to disrupt voting and sully the image of its candidates and activists.
PAM did not name the rivals it held responsible. It accused them of resorting to “unfair methods” and “immoral one-upmanship” because, according to the party, they had been unsettled by its standing on the ground and the support enjoyed by its electoral program.
With the accusations flying on election day, the party asked prosecutors to step in.
It called for an immediate investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to establish what happened and identify those behind what it described as defamatory allegations.
PAM said it had full confidence in state institutions and the judiciary and warned that it reserved the right to pursue criminal proceedings against anyone found to have harmed the party’s reputation or that of its candidates and activists.
