Rabat Mayor Fatiha El Moudni has joined PAM after quitting RNI in June, handing the party another high-profile recruit as competition over candidates intensifies ahead of the September 23 elections.
Adil El Atrassi, president of the Souissi district, has also joined PAM after leaving RNI at the same time, the party announced on Saturday.
Both had resigned from RNI amid tensions over nominations for the legislative elections.
PAM said El Moudni and El Atrassi would work with the party leadership and grassroots organization to support its political and organizational push in Rabat.
For El Atrassi, the move is also a return to his former party.
He spent several years with PAM and held elected and political responsibilities under its banner before switching to RNI in 2021.
PAM described his return as a continuation of that earlier political trajectory, while saying El Moudni would bring “qualitative added value” to the party’s projects in Rabat.
The two moves add another front to the increasingly bitter battle between RNI and PAM over candidates and elected officials ahead of September 23.
RNI has repeatedly criticized the movement of its members towards PAM in recent weeks, accusing its coalition partner of encouraging political “transhumance.”
El Moudni and El Atrassi, however, also give that argument an awkward twist: both are former PAM figures who had themselves moved to RNI before now returning to their old party.
