Casablanca’s Ouled Ziane bus station is set for a complete overhaul. After years of deterioration, the country’s busiest intercity transport hub is being upgraded through a large-scale rehabilitation project with a total budget of MAD 80.7 million.
The project is being implemented through a partnership between the Ministry of the Interior, the Casablanca municipality, the El Fida-Mers Sultan prefecture, and the local development company Casa Transports.
“This renovation project is part of a partnership agreement bringing together the Casablanca municipality, the Ministry of the Interior, the El Fida-Mers Sultan prefecture, and Casa Transports,” station director Mustapha Sebbar told Le360.
Construction is progressing steadily, with work on the main station building now 70% complete and renovations to the bus platforms reaching 50%.
The project aims to restore Ouled Ziane’s role as a strategic transport hub in both the local and national economy. Every day, thousands of passengers pass through the station while traveling to and from destinations across Morocco.
Upgraded facilities and greater passenger capacity
Once completed, the redevelopment will deliver a next-generation bus station designed to meet modern standards of comfort and functionality. The facility will feature spacious waiting areas equipped with automated access systems, as well as restaurants and retail outlets.

The station’s 14 bus platforms are also being redesigned and modernized to improve traffic flow for coaches, particularly during peak travel periods such as Eid al-Adha.
Digitalization and smart traffic management
The project also introduces a modern digital ecosystem to improve both passenger services and day-to-day operations. One-stop ticket counters will be installed, and a dedicated mobile application will allow travelers to purchase tickets remotely.
The station will also be equipped with an automated monitoring system capable of instantly identifying each coach as it enters the terminal, including its vehicle type, destination, departure schedule, and operating details.
“The goal is to equip the station with modern infrastructure that meets the latest technological and international standards, particularly through a new access management system for coaches,” Sebbar said.
