A major fire tore through a foam manufacturing factory near Tangier in northern Morocco on Tuesday night, causing extensive material damage but leaving no casualties, according to preliminary information.
The fire broke out on the evening of Aug. 18 at a foam production facility in Sebt Zinat, on the outskirts of Tangier. Flames quickly spread through highly flammable materials stored inside the plant, damaging a large section of the factory and destroying equipment and other contents.

The combustible nature of the materials contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze and caused significant damage to the facility’s infrastructure.
Firefighters contain blaze
Tangier Civil Protection units rushed to the factory, deploying firefighters and water tankers to bring the blaze under control.
Emergency crews managed to contain the main pockets of fire and prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring facilities, limiting the extent of the damage.
Local authorities and Royal Gendarmerie officers were also deployed to secure the area and coordinate the emergency response.
No deaths or injuries were reported.
Investigation opened into cause of factory fire
The Royal Gendarmerie has opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the cause of the fire and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators will also seek to determine whether any responsibility can be established in connection with the blaze.
