Heatwave forecast across several Moroccan provinces through Tuesday

Heatwave expected from Sunday through Tuesday

A heatwave is expected through Tuesday across several provinces of the Kingdom, according to an orange-level weather alert issued by the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).

Temperatures ranging between 45°C and 47°C are forecast in the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, Taroudant, Zagora, Errachidia, Aousserd, and Boujdour, the DGM said.

The same heatwave, with temperatures between 42°C and 45°C, is expected in the provinces of Marrakech, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, and El Kelaa des Sraghna.

Additionally, hot weather with temperatures ranging from 42°C to 45°C is forecast on Sunday and Monday in the provinces of Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Khénifra, Taourirt, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Guercif, and Taza, as well as in the inland areas of the provinces of Laayoune, Tarfaya, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan, the DGM added.

Temperatures between 39°C and 42°C are also expected on Monday in the provinces of Sidi Bennour, Chtouka-Aït Baha, Inezgane-Aït Melloul, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Essaouira, Driouch, Nador, Oujda-Angad, and Safi.
