The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) is continuing its efforts to support rural women in Meknes through assistance, training and capacity-building programs aimed at promoting their socioeconomic inclusion and economic empowerment.
On Monday, October 19, a training session on cooperative creation and management was held for around 20 women from the douar of Oulad Ziane, in the commune of Oued Jdida, Meknes prefecture, in partnership with the RIM Association for Sustainable Development.
The session aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to establish and manage cooperatives, while encouraging women’s entrepreneurship and the development of income-generating activities that can help improve living conditions for women and their families.
Speaking to MAP, Khadija Chihab, a member of the RIM Association for Sustainable Development and manager of the Oulad Ziane women’s club, established with INDH support, highlighted the importance of the services offered by the center, including sewing, embroidery and cooking classes, as well as literacy programs.
She praised the support provided by the INDH to rural women, emphasizing the importance of these services in helping beneficiaries acquire practical skills, strengthen their capabilities and become more independent.
She also noted that training in cooperative creation and management offers participants an opportunity to organize their collective initiatives, make better use of their skills and knowledge, and explore new economic opportunities.
Naima Nahlaoui, who regularly attends the center, also expressed her gratitude to the INDH for its support for rural women, particularly in economic empowerment and efforts to combat illiteracy.
She noted that the training provided at the center helps women acquire new skills, build self-confidence and access opportunities that can improve their socioeconomic integration.
According to the Social Action Division of Meknes prefecture, support for rural women forms part of a comprehensive human development approach encompassing improved living conditions, capacity-building, access to basic social services and the promotion of economic independence.
Through its various programs, the INDH works to reduce territorial and social disparities and encourage women to play an active role in the development of their communities.

Under its first program, dedicated to addressing shortfalls in infrastructure and basic social services, the INDH has contributed to projects improving access to drinking water, electricity, health care, education and rural roads.
The second program, which supports people in vulnerable situations, has helped establish social and educational centers for rural women. These facilities provide listening services, guidance and psychosocial support, along with literacy activities and vocational training workshops.
Under the program dedicated to improving incomes and promoting economic inclusion, the initiative supports entrepreneurial and collective ventures, particularly through the establishment and support of women’s cooperatives and income-generating activities.
The program focused on developing human capital among younger generations also places considerable emphasis on maternal and child health. Its activities aim to improve access to health care, particularly in rural areas, and strengthen health care services.
Efforts to support rural girls’ education through student boarding houses, school transportation and educational assistance also help combat school dropout and improve their future prospects, according to the same source.
Through these various areas of intervention, the INDH continues to promote inclusive human development, with particular attention to rural women as key contributors to economic and social progress.
The training session for women from Oulad Ziane illustrates this approach by focusing on skills development, initiative and the promotion of collective projects that can contribute to the long-term development of the local area.
