In a statement, the office said the platform is part of a new system for managing and distributing photocopying royalties. Journalists and publishers will also be required to declare eligible newspaper articles so the BMDA can calculate and distribute royalties for each publication year.
The rollout will follow a phased schedule covering articles published in 2024, 2025 and 2026, with royalties calculated and paid separately for each year.
Articles published in 2024 can be declared between Aug. 1 and Dec. 31, 2026. Declarations for 2025 articles will be accepted from Jan. 1 to June 30, 2027, while submissions covering 2026 publications will open on July 1, 2027.
The BMDA urged professional journalists and newspaper publishers to register through the online platform and submit their eligible articles within the announced deadlines to ensure they can receive royalty payments.
