The Rabat police prefecture on Monday, July 13, officially launched its newly upgraded command and coordination center. The facility has undergone a complete overhaul and modernization, transforming it into a next-generation hub for operational security infrastructure. The center coordinates field operations and traffic management, oversees emergency police units and monitors the city’s surveillance system in real time.
The former command center has been fully modernized and integrated into Rabat’s urban video surveillance network, which now includes more than 1,400 high-definition cameras. The system was recently expanded in partnership with the regional authorities of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra. The facility’s technological infrastructure has also been strengthened with new communication and data transmission systems operated by the General Directorate of National Security.

The new complex brings together several key security functions under one roof. Combining modern architecture with technical standards tailored to the advanced needs of law enforcement, it manages the capital’s surveillance network, monitors traffic and movement across the metropolitan area, and handles emergency calls received through the 19 hotline. These calls are now processed within a unified operational and digital platform alongside the coordination of police interventions on public roads.
The command center also includes a multifunctional operations room staffed around the clock by operators responsible for handling calls to the 19 emergency line. A dedicated technical platform has been developed to process a large number of simultaneous calls. Information gathered from callers is immediately logged into a computerized database before being transmitted in real time to the dispatch center, which assigns missions to emergency police teams deployed across the city.
The facility also houses an integrated data collection and storage center that complies with current cybersecurity standards. The data center is capable of storing and retrieving digital content in real time to support security operations and the broader missions of Morocco’s national police force.
To deal with emergencies, a crisis management center has been incorporated into the new structure. The unit is designed to respond immediately to exceptional situations and remains connected to all security databases and both fixed and mobile communication networks, while maintaining permanent decision-making autonomy.
The command and coordination center of Rabat’s police headquarters was originally inaugurated in 2016 as part of a pilot project for mobile emergency police units. Over the past decade, it has managed citizens’ emergency calls before undergoing a comprehensive modernization program in 2026.
