According to a security source, the man and woman were detained following coordination with authorities in Marrakech after an investigation found that they had been traveling in a light vehicle that struck a motorcycle, killing its rider and seriously injuring the passenger.

After the crash, the suspects fled in another vehicle in an attempt to evade prosecution and distance themselves from the incident, while footage documenting the accident circulated on instant messaging apps.

The source said the investigation led to the identification of the two suspects, who were subsequently arrested at Mohammed V Airport as they attempted to leave Morocco on a flight.

The two detainees were placed under judicial investigation by the Marrakech Prefectural Police Judicial Brigade, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to establish the full circumstances of the case and determine the charges against them.
