According to available information, the tragedy began when a 15-year-old girl was caught in dangerous conditions after being swept away by strong currents.

Her 42-year-old father, a resident of Azghanghan, immediately entered the water in an attempt to save her.

As the situation worsened, a second man, a 40-year-old from the city of Boulemane who worked as a philosophy teacher in Taourirt, rushed in to help rescue the father and his daughter.

However, strong currents and high winds thwarted the rescue efforts, and both men drowned. The girl was eventually pulled to safety by other beachgoers.

Local authorities, Royal Gendarmerie officers and Civil Protection teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after being alerted to the incident. Rescue teams launched an extensive search operation that led to the recovery of the victims’ bodies.

The competent authorities have opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy, which has left residents and beachgoers in shock.
