In an interview with Manchester City’s official channel, Bouaddi reflected on his initial period with the club. The Moroccan international is pleased with his strong start to the season with the Sky Blues and is enjoying his growing role in the team, particularly the opportunity to start in important matches.
“I’m really enjoying myself. I’ve really enjoyed my start. Manchester City is a different club. I’m very happy. I just want to improve, play better, and give everything for this badge,” the midfielder said when asked about his apparent comfort and confidence since arriving.
Bouaddi officially joined City from Lille on August 26, 2026, for a reported €95 million, plus €5 million in bonuses. He became the most expensive player in Ligue 1 history, a record that has since been broken by Bradley Barcola.
The young midfielder delivered an impressive performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League despite City’s 4-2 defeat, before showcasing his talent in the Premier League against Ipswich Town in a 3-2 win.
Asked which player has inspired him the most, the Moroccan named a Spanish football legend.
“Andrés Iniesta is the player I followed the most. I didn’t have the chance to watch him play many matches, but what little I saw was sensational. I grew up watching compilations on YouTube, so I watched him a lot,” he said.
The Atlas Lion also discussed his versatility and preferred position on the pitch.
“I’ve always been a midfielder. I’ve played at center-back and even at right-back last season, but first and foremost, I’m a midfielder. If I weren’t playing in that position, I’d be a right-back,” he said.
Bouaddi could start in Manchester City’s next match against Aston Villa on Saturday, October 24, at 11:30, in the eighth round of the Premier League.
