FC Barcelona is preparing to play a preseason friendly in the northern Moroccan city of Tangier on August 15, with the Catalan club saying final arrangements for the match are still being finalized.
The announcement came after Barcelona’s board of directors reviewed preparations for the fixture during its regular meeting on Wednesday. According to the club, the first team is expected to face a local side, although the identity of the opponent has yet to be confirmed.
The proposed match forms part of Barcelona’s preseason schedule ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and would mark another high-profile international football event hosted by Morocco.
The club’s board also discussed plans for Barcelona’s women’s team to play a friendly against Manchester City in England on the same day.
Beyond sporting matters, directors reviewed plans to hold a general assembly in September to approve the club’s financial accounts for the 2025-26 season and its budget for 2026-27.
The meeting also covered progress on the ongoing renovation of Spotify Camp Nou and the timetable for completing key works ahead of the start of the new season.
