Fatima Ezzahra Birdaha won the gold medal in the women’s 5,000m at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games in Italy on Sunday, August 30.
The Moroccan athlete completed the race in 15:07.40, securing first place.
Italy’s Micol Majori finished second with a time of 15:21.86, and Turkey’s Ceylan Ayyildiz completed the podium in 15:23.08.
Birdaha’s victory, with a lead of more than 14 seconds over her closest competitor, earned Morocco another gold medal at the 2026 Games.
