Wydad supporters are increasingly frustrated with the way the club is handling Hakim Ziyech’s future, with uncertainty continuing to surround the Moroccan international despite his desire to remain with the Casablanca club during the current summer transfer window.

According to sources close to Wydad, Ziyech is determined to continue his spell with the club and believes the solution is not to look for a new team, but to honor the contract that ties him to Wydad. Since arriving in Casablanca, the player has become one of the most committed and disciplined members of the squad.

The same sources said Ziyech has been keen to fulfill all his professional duties since joining Wydad. He regularly arrives early for training and has shown a strong commitment to the squad, earning the respect of several of his teammates.

Supporters’ frustration has grown in recent hours following reports of pressure being put on the player since the club’s new board, led by Ibrahim El Assri, took office. Ziyech had been expected to be one of the key figures in Wydad’s new sporting project.

According to the same sources, the way the player’s situation has been handled in recent weeks could eventually push Ziyech to decide to leave the club himself. However, the Moroccan international has so far avoided confrontation and has chosen to remain flexible in his dealings with Wydad officials.

Ziyech’s position has remained clear: he does not want to leave and is not asking for any new benefits. He simply wants the terms of his existing contract with Wydad to be respected.

The player is also opposed to any reduction in his monthly salary, arguing that his agreed financial package is part of his current contract and should not be renegotiated as long as neither he nor the club has entered discussions over a new deal.

Ziyech had already made his position clear to Wydad officials, telling them that he was not considering leaving the club during the summer transfer window, despite the questions surrounding his future since the election of the new board.

On the sporting side, the player’s contribution last season cannot be overlooked. Despite injuries that kept him out of several matches, Ziyech played a role in a number of positive results for Wydad.

The Moroccan international made 12 appearances in the Botola Pro, scoring eight goals and providing two assists, including a hat-trick against Hassania Agadir and a brace against COD Meknes.

He also scored once in the CAF Confederation Cup, underlining his experience and ability to make the difference in front of goal despite his limited playing time due to fitness problems.

Since joining Wydad in October 2025 from Qatari club Al Duhail, Ziyech has established himself within the squad, drawing on a distinguished career that began in the Netherlands with Heerenveen and Twente before reaching its peak at Ajax Amsterdam. He then gained further experience in the Premier League with Chelsea, where he won the UEFA Champions League, before going on to play for Galatasaray and Al Duhail.

While reports indicate that Ziyech wants to remain at Wydad, the club’s management now faces a sensitive situation that will require careful handling, particularly as any decision that leads to the player’s departure could trigger further controversy around the club.

Wydad supporters, for their part, appear unwilling to accept the departure of a player of Ziyech’s stature, particularly after his performances last season. How the club handles his future will therefore be one of the key tests of the new board’s ability to manage the next phase of Wydad’s sporting project.
