The Moroccan team earned two medals, one gold and one bronze, placing them on the podium at this prestigious global event for emerging athletics talent.

The gold medal was clinched by Moroccan runner Imad Bouchajda, who made history by becoming the U20 world champion in the 800 meters. He completed the race in 1 minute, 44.64 seconds, becoming the first Moroccan athlete to win this world U20 title.

Oussama Redouani secured the second medal, a bronze in the 1,500 meters, after finishing third in the final with a time of 3 minutes, 39.68 seconds.

Redouani delivered a strong performance, finishing behind Kenya’s Wilson Chepkwich, who won gold in 3:37.46, and his compatriot David Kabaiko Sekinto, who took silver in 3:38.32.

Another Moroccan runner, Mohamed Al Moussalit, also competed in the 1,500-meter final, finishing fourth in 3:41.09 and narrowly missing a podium spot.

With Bouchajda’s gold and Redouani’s bronze, Morocco’s 15th-place finish in the global medal standings highlighted several promising athletes who could shape the future of Moroccan athletics.

Host nation the United States topped the medal table with 23 medals (11 gold, seven silver, and five bronze), finishing ahead of all other participating national federations.

Bouchajda and Redouani’s medals were the standout achievements of Morocco’s campaign at this year’s championships. Their performances not only strengthened their presence on the international stage but also offered a strong indication of the potential future of Moroccan middle-distance running.
