Prince Ali bin Al Hussein confirmed the decision in a post on X alongside a photo of himself with the Moroccan coach.
“During my meeting today with my dear brother, coach Jamal Sellami. As your journey with the Nashama comes to an end, we thank you for your outstanding efforts and dedication and for helping our national team achieve the historic milestone of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time,” he wrote.
He continued, “Your time with the Nashama has been truly exceptional. You will always remain a cherished member of the Jordanian football family for the commitment, professionalism, and leadership you brought to the team. I wish you every success in the next chapter of your career. Your advice and expertise will always be valued.”
Sellami took charge of Jordan in 2024, succeeding fellow Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta. Under his leadership, the Nashama made history by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time.
The former Raja Casablanca and FUS Rabat coach had been under contract until after the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Jordan’s maiden World Cup campaign ended with three defeats in the group stage: 3-1 against Austria, 2-1 against Algeria, and 3-1 against defending champions Argentina.
