After a little more than four hours in the air, Morocco’s national team arrived in Boston, where it will take on France in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday, July 9, at 9 p.m. (Moroccan time) at Gillette Stadium.
The Atlas Lions touched down in Massachusetts at around 2 a.m. (Moroccan time) after departing Houston later in the day. Just hours before boarding their flight, the players had completed a recovery session following Saturday’s convincing 3-0 victory over Canada, which secured their place in the last eight.
Upon arrival, Mohamed Ouahbi’s squad headed straight to its team base, where it will stay until the clash with Les Bleus. The coaching staff has scheduled training to resume on Monday as preparations intensify ahead of the Atlas Lions’ biggest challenge yet against one of the tournament’s favorites.
Boston and Gillette Stadium have already brought good fortune to Achraf Hakimi and his teammates during this World Cup. It was there that Morocco claimed a valuable 1-0 victory over Scotland in the group stage, with Ismaël Saibari scoring the winner in the opening minutes.
The Atlas Lions will now return to the same venue on Thursday for a quarterfinal against France that promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
