Moroccan champions Maghreb Fes have strengthened their squad with several new signings as they prepare for the 2026-27 season, with the club aiming to remain competitive and build on last season’s Botola Pro title.
The Fes-based club announced the arrivals of Youssef Hafidi, forward Christopher Ibayi, Chigofatsu Mabasa, Samba Mbengue, defender Abdellah Khafifi, Amine El Farsi and forward Devin Titus.
The signings are part of the club’s efforts to improve the squad and give the coaching staff more options ahead of the new season, particularly as Maghreb Fes looks to defend its domestic title while competing in continental competition.
In July, the club appointed Portuguese coach Rui Almeida as head coach on a one-season contract.
Maghreb Fes said Almeida’s appointment was part of a restructuring of its sporting department following the departure of sporting director Badr El Kadouri. The club described the move as part of a new phase in its project to modernize and develop its sporting structure.
The club has also announced a broader restructuring of its sporting department as part of the second phase of the project, with the aim of strengthening governance and sporting management while keeping pace with the club’s ambitions following its Botola Pro triumph.
As part of its preparations, Maghreb Fes is holding a training camp in Agadir from August 10 to 24. The camp is focused on improving the players’ physical and technical readiness and building cohesion between the existing squad and the new arrivals.
The preparation period is particularly important given the challenges ahead, including the club’s participation in the CAF Champions League. Maghreb Fes will face FC Rahimo in the first preliminary round of the continental competition.
The squad reinforcements and changes to the sporting department come as expectations rise following the club’s return to the top of Moroccan football and its 2025-26 league title.
Through its sporting and administrative changes, Maghreb Fes is looking to build a more balanced and competitive squad while maintaining last season’s gains and preparing for domestic and continental competition.
