France forward Michael Olise is reportedly eager to join Real Madrid next season, despite Bayern Munich’s repeated insistence that the club has no intention of selling one of its key players.
According to French newspaper L’Équipe, the 24-year-old has made his intentions clear to his France teammates during the ongoing World Cup, telling them that he wants to leave Bayern and join the Spanish giants.
Olise’s name first emerged in connection with Real Madrid during the club’s presidential elections, when president Florentino Pérez referred to a possible €150 million move for a major international star. Pérez later clarified that he was not referring to the French winger.
Spanish sports daily Marca reported that Real Madrid are aware of the player’s ambitons and could open negotiations once the World Cup concludes. Any deal, however, is expected to prove difficult, with Bayern determined to keep one of their standout performers.
The German champions have already made their position clear. Bayern president Herbert Hainer dismissed speculation over a potential transfer, saying: " Florentino Pérez can save himself the trouble of making an offer for Olise; we do not want to sell. "
Under contract in Munich until 2029, Olise reportedly views a move to Madrid as the next step in his career. L’Équipe also claims that Dayot Upamecano, his teammate for both club and country, has attempted to convince him to remain at Bayern.
The winger has played an important role for France at the World Cup, where Les Bleus reached the semi-finals before their elimination against Spain.
