The match was played at Carleton University as part of the 9th-16th-place classification games. Brazil secured its first win of the tournament and will continue competing for ninth through 12th place.
Morocco had advanced to the knockout stage after competing in Group D alongside Canada, Germany and Iran. Iran withdrew before the tournament, leaving Morocco with two group-stage games.
The Moroccan team opened the competition with a 74-51 defeat to hosts Canada before suffering a heavier 91-28 loss to Germany. It then reached the round of 16 under the tournament’s crossover format.
Morocco faced Spain in the round of 16 on Monday and lost 90-44, sending the team into the classification bracket.

The defeat to Brazil followed a campaign against several of the world’s established wheelchair basketball teams. Brazil won 79-47, with Cristiano Clemente scoring 31 points for the South American side.
Morocco qualified for the Ottawa World Championships after winning the African Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Luanda, Angola, in April.
The 2026 IWBF World Championships are being held in Ottawa from September 9 to 19, with 16 men’s teams competing for the world title.
For Morocco, the tournament ends after four games: defeats to Canada, Germany, Spain and Brazil.
