Work starts on MAD127m sports hall in Casablanca

The future Lahjajma multi-purpose sports hall in Casablanca.

The indoor arena at Lahjajma will take two years to build and is part of a MAD260m project that also includes a swimming pool, market and underground parking.

Work has started on a MAD127.3 million indoor sports hall at Lahjajma, with earthmoving machinery now at the site near Bourgogne.

The hall will be used for futsal, basketball, handball and volleyball. Plans include spectator stands, changing rooms for players and referees, medical and technical rooms and facilities for officials.

The contract was awarded on July 16 to the Inter Tridim-Optimaco consortium, with construction scheduled to take 24 months. Casa Aménagement is in charge of the project.

It is one part of the MAD260 million redevelopment planned for Lahjajma. The rest includes an indoor swimming pool, covered market, underground car park, sociocultural facilities, green spaces and a public square.
