After an impressive group-stage campaign and knockout victories over the Netherlands (1-1, 3-2 on penalties) and Canada (3-0), Morocco now faces its biggest challenge of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a quarterfinal showdown against France.
Ouahbi is expected to receive a timely boost in defense with the return of Chadi Riad. The centre-back missed the Round of 16 after injuring his knee against the Netherlands, but he has trained with the squad during the past two sessions in Boston and appears ready to reclaim his place in the starting XI. Issa Diop, who has impressed throughout the tournament, is expected to continue alongside him in central defense.

There are no doubts over the goalkeeper’s position, with Yassine Bounou once again set to start after a string of standout performances. Captain Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui are also expected to keep their places at full-back.
Ouahbi is unlikely to make changes in midfield either. Neil El Aynaoui, Azzedine Ounahi and Ayyoub Bouaddi have formed a balanced and effective trio, combining energy, discipline and control throughout the tournament.
The only forced adjustment comes in attack. Saibari has been ruled out after suffering a muscle injury against Canada, opening the door for Soufiane Rahimi, whose performances off the bench have made a strong case for a starting role. Bilal El Khannouss and Brahim Diaz are both expected to retain their places in Morocco’s front line.
