Paris Saint-Germain provided an update on Achraf Hakimi’s condition, announcing that the Moroccan captain has begun a gradual return to training and is currently working out on his own.

On Friday, Hakimi trained away from the rest of the squad at the PSG Campus, two days before the Classique against Marseille, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, at the Vélodrome. According to the club’s latest medical update, the Moroccan international is continuing with individual exercises.

He was substituted before halftime against Brest on Sunday, September 13, with Fabian Ruiz taking his place in the 1-0 victory after experiencing thigh discomfort. A few days later, PSG confirmed that the player had suffered a slight injury.

The Moroccan full-back is therefore making a gradual return to training. Despite not being fully fit, Hakimi was included in Mohamed Ouahbi’s Morocco squad last Thursday for the upcoming international break. The Atlas Lions are set to face Gabon in Rabat on September 25 and Lesotho in South Africa on September 29 in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Hakimi would not have been able to play in either of those two matches anyway because of his suspension following the latest CAF sanctions related to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. He remains available for Morocco’s friendly against Ghana on October 4 in Tangier.

If he recovers quickly, he should be available to play against Ghana while continuing his rehabilitation with the Moroccan national team’s medical staff. However, there is still no guarantee that he will be ready for Sunday’s Classique with PSG.
